Description

The tear tape used in this Tie-Back Lanyards is quite unique. Great for welding applications. It passes both 6 ft Free Fall(Factor 1) and 12 Ft Free Fall(Factor 2) criteria. The 6/12 tear tapes start activation at 900 lbf. average activation, then half way threw the deployment distance it ramps up to 1,350 lbf for a maximum deployment distance of 60". We have replaced the steel D-Ring connector between the shock pack and lanyard legs with a forged 2" aluminum O ring. The new tear tape system will reduce total lanyard weight by slightly over one half of a pound. Tear tape is backed up with 8,000lb Kevlar webbing to allow the lanyard to pass ASTM F887-13 Arc Flash requirements. YATES 874 Lanyard also meets the requirements of a lanyard designed to be used on Welding, Grinding and Cutting operations at height.

ASTM F887-13 Arc Flash Rated. 100% Tie Off twin lanyard legs are made from 13mm BlueWater Armortech Rope and 2.5" opening aluminum ANSI Certified Large Snap Hooks. Unique double ring on lanyard legs allow easy adjustment for tie-back. Designed specifically for Transmission Tower workers who want a Fall Protection Lanyard that can be used either for sternal or dorsal harness attachment. The maximum length of lanyard is 6 ft. Lanyard has a new YATES 2" rigging ring between shock pack and Armortech rope legs to allow tie-bach to shock pack when used on harness sternal attachment. Forged captive eye ANSI certified carabiner used to connect shock to harness. This 100% Tie-Off Lanyard is specifically designed to be incorporated into the sternal D-ring on harnesses is desired. ANSI Z359.14 Standard allows for sternal fall protection attachment of lanyards. Designed for sternal attachment for Y style harnesses only. Not recommended for sternal attachment on H style harnesses.

Weight: 5 lb. 2 oz. Comes with FR Velcro keeper that secures around shoulder strap on harness allowing the climber to secure the shock pack over his shoulder for climbing (as seen in the video) if the lanyard is attached dorsally to the harness. PATENT PENDING.

• Designed to be used to efficiently climb step bolts on transmission towers.
• Maximum free fall distance allowed 12 feet. Full activation of lanyard extended absorber an additional 60 inches. Individually serial and lot numbered
• New 2.5" opening aluminum ANSI Certified Large Snap Hooks located on 13 mm Armortech rope legs meet 3600 lbf. (15kN) side load gate strength requirements of ANSI Z359.12-2009 standard.
• 874 Lanyard is certified to meet ANSI/ASSE Z359.12-2009, ANSI/ASSE Z359.13-2013 standards. Certification to ASTM F887-16(Arc Flash Rating).

SPECIAL NOTE ON STERNAL ATTACHMENT OF LANYARD FOR FALL ARREST.

ANSI Z359.11-2014 Sternal Attachment

3
.2.2 Sternal.

The sternal attachment may be located as shown in Figure 4, and used as an alternative fall arrest attachment in applications where the dorsal attachment is determined to be inappropriate by a competent person and where there is no chance to fall in a direction other than feet first.

E3.2.2 See Figure 2(a) & 4. The sternal attachment element should be used only when the likely fall distance is not greater than 2 ft.

3.2.2.2 When loaded at the sternal attachment to arrest a fall, the design of the FBH (full body harness) shall direct load through the shoulder straps supporting the user and around the thighs.
